Overview
Panopto is a lecture capture and video hosting system which is available campus-wide. With this application, you can capture synchronized input from your computer. You can choose to make a basic recording using a microphone and screen capture, or you can add a PowerPoint or Keynote presentation, webcam video, and even activity from a second monitor or camera. You can also upload certain types of existing videos to be streamed through Panopto. Before you can create a recording using Panopto, you must verify that a current version of the Panopto recorder is installed on the computer you plan to use. To see if your recorder is a current version, try logging in. If you have an older version installed, a notification to that effect will pop up, and the recorder will not open. If you are using a BJU-owned computer, you will need assistance to update the recorder. Visit Technology Resources in AL 207 (if you have a laptop) or you can call IT Support at ext. 3880 or 864-335-0673.Requesting the Recorder on a BJU-Owned Computer
You may request installation of the recorder on a BJU-owned computer by submitting a Service Desk ticket, or for laptops, you may stop by Technology Resources in AL 207. Panopto recordings are stored in folders, and you must have a Creator role in at least one folder to log in to the recorder. If you cannot log in to the recorder, request that a practice folder be created. Once you have the right to record to at least one folder, you can create other folders as needed. NOTE: If you are creating folders for an online distance learning course, ask the School for Continuing, Online and Professional Education to create your folders.Installing the Recorder on a Personally-Owned Computer
If you are listed as a “Creator” in at least one Panopto folder or if you are taking a course that has a Drop Box folder, you may download and install the recorder on a personally-owned computer for official University use only. Before attempting the installation, please review the requirements that your computer must meet (Windows, Mac). To download and install the recorder, log in to the BJU Panopto site. Click the Download Recorder link in the upper right hand corner of the page, and then download and install the appropriate recorder (Windows or Mac, but not the Remote recorder). After installation, be sure that bju.hosted.panopto.com is in the server address field of the recorder login window. Log in as described below. Personal use of the recorder is prohibited.Logging in to use the BJU Panopto Website or to View Recordings
